We're calling on passionate, committed individuals to volunteer at LIC 2025, the premier gathering of global and regional experts focused on tackling Lassa Fever and other emerging infectious diseases. Organized by the West African Health Organization (WAHO) in partnership with key global and regional health institutions, this landmark event needs YOU to help make it a success!
Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities
As a volunteer, you'll support key areas of the conference, including:
- Registration & Welcome Desk Attendants
- Welcome participants and guests.
- Manage check-in, distribute badges and conference materials.
- Provide directions and general information.
- Event Logistics Assistants
- Support setup and breakdown of venues.
- Ensure timely flow of materials and supplies.
- Assist with general session coordination and transitions.
- Support with crowd management and movement between venues.
- Delegate Support and Ushering
- Guide attendees within the venue.
- Provide assistance to VIPs and international delegates.
- Provide general help and hospitality to participants.
- Language Support Volunteers (English/French)
- Assist with bilingual communication for non-French speaking participants and teams.
- Translate documents or signage as needed.
- Media & Communications Volunteers
- Support social media coverage (live updates on various social media platforms, photography, video snippets).
- Assist the press team and media partners.
- Help manage interviews, press check-ins, and briefings.

Technical & A/V Support Volunteers
- Help with microphone management during Q&A sessions.
- Support IT staff in troubleshooting during sessions.
- Health & Safety Monitors
- Support the implementation of health and safety protocols.
- Guide attendees to first aid or sanitation points.
- Respond to basic health-related concerns or direct to medical staff.
- Exhibition & Booth Coordinators
- Assist exhibitors with setup, logistics, and attendee engagement.
- Monitor booths and poster session areas.
- Facilitate smooth operation of exhibit zones.
- Hospitality & Guest Relations
- Welcome and escort international guests from arrival points (e.g., airport pickup teams).
- Provide local guidance and tourism information.
- Assist during meals, coffee breaks, and networking events.
Volunteer Requirements
To be eligible, you should:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Have good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be available throughout the event dates and pre-event training.
- Previous experience in event coordination, hospitality, health communication, translation, logistics, or customer service is a plus.
- Be open to attending a mandatory orientation session.
- Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and punctuality.
