Lassa Fever Disease Programme Lead at CEPI
Background
Dr. Katrin Ramsauer currently leads the Lassa Fever Disease programme at CEPI, where she orchestrates all CEPI-funded initiatives aimed at licensing a Lassa Fever vaccine for the endemic population in West Africa. Previously, she served as Chief Scientific Officer and Managing Director of Themis Bioscience, a wholly owned subsidiary of MSD, located in Vienna, Austria.
Experience
Between 2010 and 2020, Dr. Ramsauer spearheaded product development programmes at Themis, a biotech company specializing in vaccines for emerging infectious diseases. In 2020, Themis was acquired by MSD.
Education
Dr. Ramsauer is a scientist by training, having earned her PhD in molecular biology from the Max Perutz Laboratories, University of Vienna. She was awarded a Hertha Firnberg Fellowship by the Austrian Research Foundation to support women in academic research, subsequently transitioning to industry with a postdoctoral position at Novartis Vaccines in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
